Break's Over, Bitches.
Welcome back to our regularly scheduled broadcast
Hi you,
Welcome back to our regularly scheduled broadcast. It’s been a minute. I hope you’re doing well; I’m doing well, or I’m doing ok, or whatever it is that people say nowadays to dodge being honest.
What have I been up to this summer, apart from being extremely busy spending time with my breathtaking wife and two kids? Good question, and thank you for asking.
The summer has been quite bittersweet, as things often are. I love that I got to spend a lot of time doing what I love the most, ur mom watching movies. I saw 74 movies this year, which is more than I’d seen in 2024 and 2023.
You see, I’d signed myself up for, not one, but two movie subscriptions over the summer (A24’s AAA24 & Alamo Drafthouse’s Season Pass), and I ended up seeing pretty much every film that came out. Yay!
The thing I’m most proud of this year, and I need you to understand that I am actually, unironically, talking about being proud of myself, which happens once every decade, so pay attention. I’ve tried really hard to be an avid reader this year, and during the summer, I had a lot of free time to spend on it.
I’ve read 11 books this year, which is more than I’ve read during 2024 and 2023… combined. This means so much to me and is arguably my favorite thing about this year because I know how much I’ve been trying to become a reader ever since I made a Goodreads account back in 2021. And now four years later, I’m about to hit my reading goals of the year for the first time ever, and I think that’s fucking awesome.
Now, on to some real, professional updates: I’m still unemployed.
Ok, that was quick.
I did give an Online Assessment for Citadel last week, so I’m practically gonna be a millionaire any second now. So… checkmate, Bill Gates.
Ironically, it’s not been all sunshine this summer. I’ve had my fair share of problems, but the only one that pertains to this newsletter is my inconsistency in writing it.
Earlier, I was going through the first-ever email I sent, just to see how far I’ve come and to check if I’m still aligned with the goals I’d set when I started out. And essentially, the answer is yes.
I still enjoy writing and want to improve. I still like the idea of journaling and documenting bits and pieces of my life. I still think it’s nice to write an email once a week to tell your friends about some dumb thing that happened.
So, yes, I’ll continue to write for as long as I still like those things. I just hope I can do it consistently. And I know it’s ok if I don’t.
Alright, goodbye forever now.
Worth Your Time
Song: Laufey has put out yet another banger of an album, here’s my favorite track
Video: I saw someone on my Twitter FYP recommend this, and I found it very comforting
Movie: Sorry, Baby. I saw it twice in the theaters; it’s my favorite movie of the year, and probably one of my all-time favorites. It’s Eva Victor’s directorial debut. If you can, please check it out.
Book: Bonjour Tristesse by Francoise Sagan. If you’re a fan of fucked up main characters (I’m looking at you, Fleabag fanatics), you’ll love this.
Take care, drink water, close all unused tabs, call your parents, text your friends. I’ll see you. Have a great week ahead, and do something for yourself that your future self will thank you for!
I hope you’re happy.
